Coulrophobics, beware! Documentary-maker Christopher Griffiths has launched an Indiegogo campaign for his new film Pennywise: The Story of IT. The movie details the making of much-loved (and feared!) 1990 miniseries about a terrifying supernatural entity who manifests itself in the form of Tim Curry’s clown, Pennywise. The TV adaptation was based on Stephen King’s 1986 horror novel, which has also inspired the upcoming film version (out Sept. 8). Pennywise: The Story of IT is being made with the cooperation of Curry and director Tommy Lee Wallace, among others. Griffiths previously directed RoboDoc: The Creation of Robocop and You’re So Cool, Brewster! The Story of Fright Night.

“Like our previous endeavors, we aim to leave no stone unturned,” Griffiths says in a video promoting the Indiegogo campaign. “And in this instance, we have amassed a large amount of behind-the-scenes footage never before seen.”
