The film returns to theaters in black and white for one night only

Hugh Jackman’s last film as Wolverine looks just as epic in black and white in the new trailer for Logan Noir, a monochromatic version of the James Mangold film hitting theaters for one night only.

If you haven’t already picked up tickets for the screening, coming to select Alamo Drafthouse locations on Tuesday, then you may miss out on the debut and Q&A livestream with Mangold and Jackman. Fortunately, Logan Noir is also coming on the Logan Blu-ray, available May 23.

The early promotional material for the film, including cast portraits and a brief trailer teaser, were released in black and white. “During production of Logan, I took many black-and-white photographs and noticed how striking and dramatic our gritty settings and characters appeared in monochrome,” Mangold said in a statement accompanying a press release. “The western and noir vibes of the film seemed to shine in the format and there was not a trace of modern comic hero movie sheen.”

While editing the film, Mangold noticed the enthusiastic response from fans, “many hoping that they would get a chance to see the finished film in carefully timed, high contrast black and white,” he said. “Well. Sometimes hope becomes reality.”

Logan returned Jackman as Wolverine for a bloody, cross-country romp with an ailing Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) and the ferocious Laura, a.k.a X-23 (Dafne Keen). Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, Richard E. Grant, and Elizabeth Rodriguez also featured.
