In the new comedy-thriller The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Ryan Reynolds plays a protection agent who is called upon to guard the life of his mortal enemy, an assassin played by Samuel L. Jackson. While traveling from England to the Hague, they find themselves involved in high-speed car chases, boat escapades, and assorted other mayhem as they try to evade the murderous attentions of a merciless Eastern European dictator, portrayed by the great Gary Oldman.
The Hitman’s Bodyguard is directed by Patrick Hughes, who previously oversaw 2014’s The Expendables 3, and costars Salma Hayek, who plays the wife of Jackson’s character. Other cast members include Elodie Yung, Joaquim De Almeida, Kirsty Mitchell, and Richard E. Grant, from Withnail & I and Logan. The film is released in theaters on Aug. 18.
