After igniting a worldwide phenomenon across comic books and animated movies, Paramount’s live-action Hollywood adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s Ghost in the Shell didn’t quite live up to fans’ (or the studio’s) expectations, and a new edition of Screen Crush’s satirical Critics Are Raving has captured the essence of critical backlash.

Touching on everything from the controversy of the film’s casting (Scarlett Johannson plays a humanoid cyborg created by the Japanese government for cyber warfare) to the feature’s similarities to The Matrix, the fictional preview cuts some of Ghost in the Shell‘s most brutal reactions with clips from its previously released trailers, culminating in a comical take on the rocky road the film has traversed thus far.

Despite its critical reception, Ghost in the Shell has performed consistently at the overseas box office, earning around $41.3 million from 46 markets to become the globe’s top-earning picture for the April 7-9 weekend frame. To date, the $110 million blockbuster has made roughly $125 million in worldwide ticket sales.
