Wonder Woman LEGO set reveals key villain
With just a few short months to go before Wonder Woman makes her standalone feature film debut, LEGO has unveiled a new set inspired by the upcoming superhero action flick—and it’s simple, but significant.
Gal Gadot and Chris Pine get minifigure transformations in “Wonder Woman Warrior Battle,” which throws Gadot’s sword-wielding Amazonian warrior Diana Prince and Pine’s American pilot Steve Trevor smack into what looks to be a major disagreement with Ares, the god of war and one of Wonder Woman’s chief antagonists. EW has a sneak peek at the newest in the LEGO DC Super Heroes line:
Fans will note that we’ve yet to see a proper, official, nonplastic look at how the character of Ares will appear in the film. While you shouldn’t put too much stock into the LEGO version, the set does pose an interesting question about the size of Ares, the context of this battle, and whether LEGO Steve really has the best handle on that fighter plane.
Wonder Woman arrives in theaters on June 2; the 286-piece LEGO set is available May 1.
