Listen. Alien: Covenant does not want you to forget — not for a moment! — that this Ridley Scott movie is coming and there is nothing you can do to stop it, and it is going to scare the stuffing out of you. Okay? There’s going to be back-bursting and face-hugging and Fassbender robots and there’s not a single orange hero cat to distract you.
In that vein, check out the new gorgeous yet deeply creepy new poster for the film. It’s an unsettling image to be sure, both a callback to classical depictions of hell and a gentle reminder that yes, those are the aliens (is that an alien queen that we spy?) who are on top.
In this Prometheus sequel — starring Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, and Jussie Smollett — a crew of the colony ship Covenant are bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy and discover what they think is a paradise but guess what? It sure isn’t.
Alien: Covenant opens in theaters on May 19.
