James Gunn unveils psychedelic new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 poster
The neon design features the main characters against a cosmic backdrop
By all indications, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 seems poised to continue the ’70s-inflected psychedelia tone that infused the first film. Colorful aliens abound once again, and now Kurt Russell is playing a character named Ego the Living Planet. Director James Gunn confirmed the psychedelic factor Wednesday when he tweeted a new IMAX poster for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
The new poster is bathed in blacklight and features the main characters against a cosmic backdrop. Yondu’s head dominates the image, suggesting the Ravager leader will indeed have a bigger role the second time around. New character Mantis can be spotted in the back, along with a heavenly-looking figure who may or may not be Peter Quill’s father (since he was described as by Quill’s mom as being made out of light).
Check out the poster below. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters May 5.
