Matt Damon is going the distance.

The Massachusetts-born actor and filmmaker will narrate Boston, a documentary about the Boston Marathon debuting next month, EW can exclusively reveal.

Directed by Jon Dunham (Spirit of the Marathon), the documentary tells the story of the world’s oldest annual marathon, from its origins in 1897 through the tragedy of the 2013 bombing and the triumphant return the following year. The filmmakers spent the past three years interviewing champions and amateur runners from around the world, as well as members of the local community.

Boston will have its world premiere in the titular city April 15, two days before this year’s race, and will be shown in theaters nationwide for one night only: Wednesday, April 19, at 7:30 p.m. local time. Tickets are available via fathomevents.com.

Damon recently produced the Boston-centric drama Manchester by the Sea and can currently be seen in the fantasy film The Great Wall.
