It was a big weekend for Fox's Marvel properties: Not only did Hugh Jackman's final turn as Wolverine in Logan rip apart the box office with more than $88 million, but the studio also debuted the first teaser for Ryan Reynolds' highly anticipated return in Deadpool 2.

The Deadpool 2 teaser caused its own commotion as the internet began to posit that geek royalty Nathan Fillion might be playing Cable in the sequel. Well, EW is here to crush your dreams: EW has learned all this Fillion talk is just a rumor and that Cable still hasn't been cast for Deadpool 2 (sorry, Fillion-ites). Twentieth Century Fox had no comment.

The commotion began over the weekend as eagle-eyed fans noticed the poster for Joss Whedon's cult sci-fi series Firefly, which Fillion starred in, in the background as Wade Wilson runs to save a man being robbed. There was also the sentence "Nathan Summers coming soon" scribbled on the side of the phone booth Wade uses to change. Now, all that's really known for certain about Deadpool 2 is that Wade Wilson's pal Cable, a.k.a. Nathan Summers, will appear in the second installment. Firefly fans saw all this and thought it might be an Easter egg for Fillion potentially playing Cable.
