Michael K. Williams in talks to join young Han Solo movie
Michael K. Williams could be going from The Wire to a galaxy far, far away.
The actor is in talks to join the young Han Solo movie in an unspecified role, EW has learned. Alden Ehrenreich is already on board to play the young smuggler, with Phil Lord and Chris Miller directing the as-yet-untitled spinoff.
Shooting began in February, and Disney has since released the first official cast photo, including Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca. Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Emilia Clarke, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge are also part of the cast, but so far, Disney is keeping their roles under wraps.
Star Wars alum Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon penned the script, and the film is slated for release on May 25, 2018.
Williams is perhaps best known for playing Omar Little on The Wire, and he recently appeared in HBO’s The Night Of and the ABC miniseries When We Rise. He’ll also soon star in season 2 of Hap and Leonard, which begins March 15.
Variety first reported the news.
