Poor Anna Kendrick. At best, weddings are a good excuse to celebrate with friends, dance to cheesy pop songs, and maybe take advantage of the open bar. At worst, they can turn into a grisly social ranking of friends and family members, depending on where you’ve been seated in proximity to the bride and groom. In this exclusive clip from the upcoming rom-com Table 19, Kendrick finds herself in the latter camp.

The actress stars as Eloise, who’s in denial about being relegated to the losers’ table in the way back of the wedding. After all, she was the maid of honor — until her boyfriend, the best man, unexpectedly dumped her via text message. To show just how in-the-know she is, she attempts to impress her tablemates by rattling off a who’s who of everyone in attendance. Think Mean Girls’ cafeteria scene, delivered five times faster and with way more people in formal wear.

As for the titular table 19, where Eloise herself has been seated? That’s “the table that should’ve known to RSVP regrets, but not before sending something nice off the registry.” Ouch.

Kendrick is joined at Table 19 by a motley crew of misfits including Lisa Kudrow, Stephen Merchant, Craig Robinson, Tony Revolori, and June Squibb. Directed by Jeffrey Blitz (who previously directed Kendrick in Rocket Science), Table 19 opens in theaters on Friday — and for more on the movie, pick up the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, on stands that same day.
