Pirates of the Caribbean hits the Super Bowl with new look at Dead Men Tell No Tales
Super Bowl LI just traded the gridiron for the high seas.
A new look at the next Pirates of the Caribbean film, Dead Men Tell No Tales, debuted Sunday during the match-up between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons.
The first trailer for the film arrived back in October and gave a look at Javier Bardem as the villainous Captain Salazar — but didn’t show any signs of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow (save for a Wanted poster with his face on it). This time, however, Depp makes an entrance at the very end of the teaser.
Dead Men Tell No Tales finds Jack coming up against the deadly ghost sailors led by Salazar after they escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea — including Jack. His only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it, he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy.
Depp reprises his role as Jack Sparrow alongside fellow returning Pirates stars Orlando Bloom (Will Turner), Geoffrey Rush (Captain Barbossa), Kevin McNally (Gibbs), and Stephen Graham (Scrum).
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales drops anchor in theaters May 26. Watch the trailer above, and head here for a full rundown of trailers that aired during the Super Bowl.
