Late last year, Iggy Pop announced that he would be writing a new song, “Gold,” for the upcoming film of the same name starring Matthew McConaughey. The Western-inspired track was officially released for all to hear on Thursday.

“Gold” is a sinister-sounding ballad the rock legend co-wrote the song alongside Danger Mouse, Gold director Stephen Gaghan, and composer Daniel Pemberton.

“Hail to the thief, and you won’t get left in line. Won’t you hail to the thief, and we’ll keep what’s left in line,” Iggy Pop sings on the track.

The song was nominated for Best Original Song at last week’s Golden Globes, but lost to La La Land‘s “City of Stars.” Both are eligible for the same category at the Oscars, which announces its nominees later this month.

Gold hits theaters on Jan. 27. Listen to Iggy Pop’s song above.
