Paramount’s World War Z sequel is undead and kicking. The follow-up to the 2013 thriller starring Brad Pitt as a former U.N. troubleshooter called upon to halt a zombie pandemic has enlisted Dennis Kelly to work on a new draft of the script, EW has confirmed.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported news of Kelly boarding the movie, which is to be directed by Spanish filmmaker Juan Antonio Bayona (The Impossible, The Orphanage). Eastern Promises scribe Stephen Knight wrote a previous draft. Pitt is returning as star and will produce alongside Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Ian Bryce.

A London native, Kelly created the British TV series Utopia and penned the 2014 film Black Sea, starring Jude Law.

The prospect of a World War Z sequel had been in discussion since the first film became a surprise box-office hit, grossing more than $500 million worldwide after enduring a turbulent production that included a complete overhaul of the third act.

Paramount confirmed the sequel in May, accouncing that it is scheduled to hit theaters June 9, 2017.
