Miller died from an apparent overdose at the age of 26 last fall. Many wondered if he might take home the top prize in his category posthumously, but Cardi B was named the winner. In a video posted to her Instagram after her win in which she thanked her team and supporters, Cardi said, "I read an article that Mac Miller's family said that if he don't win, they want me to win so I'm sharing this Grammy with you mother f—er. Rest in peace." Cardi isn't the only winner to share some love with Mac Miller — his ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande also took home her first Grammy on Sunday night, and she reportedly posted angry tweets and later deleted them when Miller did not win in his category. Miller's nomination for Best Rap Album was his one and only career Grammy nomination.
