Jennifer Lopez had a huge start to 2016, with her new scripted series Shades of Blue debuting on NBC and American Idol returning for its final season last week. But which does the 46-year-old singer/actress enjoy more: playing a corrupt cop, or judging hopeful singers on their journey to fame?

“It’s two different sides of me,” Lopez told EW and People on the Golden Globes red carpet Sunday. “And I enjoy both very much.”

Lopez did admit, however, that playing New York City policewoman Harlee Santos on Shades of Blue puts her in a different mindset.

“I feel like a different person when I’m playing Harlee and acting and in New York and living that life,” she explained. “Getting back to acting like that, which I haven’t done in a while, has been challenging but also so fulfilling for me…. When I started, that’s all I used to do, so now to get back to that is a lot of fun for me.”
