The rumors are true: the next Call of Duty game will be Black Ops 4.

An official announcement finally came on Thursday after rumors began swirling on the blogosphere. NBA star James Harden had also been spotted walking around in full camouflage with a slightly altered Black Ops logo on his cap.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be released on Friday, Oct. 12 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. No other details were offered with the announcement video, but Activision will reveal the latest virtual world to gamers on Thursday, May 17.

The Call of Duty publisher further teased in a press release that the game “will revolutionize the top-selling series in Call of Duty history.”

The first Black Ops was set during the Cold War in the 1960s, the sequel took place in 2025, and Black Ops 3 went to the year 2065. The franchise has also seen Call of Duty head to World War II with its Nov. 2017 release.
