Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin)
Season 3 ended with Sookie breaking up ?with Bill and seeking refuge with the fairies. Surprise! It turns out the land of Tinkerbell is not all yellow lighting, pixie dust, and sparkly wings. ”She’ll learn a lot about what it means to be an actual fairy,” ? explains Alan Ball.
Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello)
The werewolf heads ?to another city and ?runs into a new pack of creatures. But what about Sookie? ?Explains Ball, ”I would definitely say that he would be more than happy to pursue Sookie if the circumstances were right, which they are not at this point.”
Pam De Beaufort (Kristin Bauer ?van Straten)
Gorgeous and libidinous as ever, Pam finds her world at Fangtasia rocked when she learns that her maker can’t even remember who she is or where she works. She’ll stop at nothing to help Eric, but can she persuade Sookie to also lend a hand?
Lafayette Reynolds? (Nelsan Ellis)
Still unsure of his mystical tendencies,? Lafayette is taken by lover Jesus to meet a strange group of ?Wiccans in Shreveport, where all hell breaks loose and he?s put ?back in Pam’s crosshairs. But enough about all that: Check out the new hair!
Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll)
Playing house with ?her human boyfriend, Hoyt, is not as easy as it seems for Jessica, who battles the constant urge to throw down her apron and go get wild ?at Fangtasia. ”She’s like ?a homeschooled, ?socially sheltered girl who became a vampire,” says Ball.
Sam Merlotte ?(Sam Trammell)
Look who appears to ?be in a better mood this year! Sam’s not brooding so much over his ?idiot brother and mother this season (although Tommy will still be hanging around). That’s probably because ?Sam’s fallen in with a new group of sexy ?shape-shifters.
Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten)
Expect a very mature Jason to get himself ?in hot water for ?caring too much for part-time panther ?Crystal and her clan of vampire-blood-?dealing miscreants. Says Ball, ”Often in ?real life, doing the right thing can get you ?in trouble.”
Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley)
The chemistry still ?simmers between Tara and Sam, but she?s ready to spread her wings outside of Bon Temps. ”Tara’s got a ?really interesting journey, and we’re going to go to a very surprising place by the end of the season and the beginning of season 5,” teases Ball.
Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård)
Eric is a mean ol? cuss when he encounters ?the witches congregating in Louisiana, but a series of scary events results in the vampire losing his memory — and edge. ”It’s been fun to play because there’s a sadness there ?as well,” says Skarsgård. ”He’s very vulnerable ?and innocent.”
Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer)
Pay attention to how yummy and well rested Bill looks in the premiere; that says quite a bit about where he’s at in his life. But he is still on the outs with Sookie: ”She lost trust in Bill, and it’s very hard for her to believe that Eric would be any ?different,” says Moyer.
