Pierce Brosnan in AMC's 'The Son': First Look
Welcome to The Son
Pierce Brosnan stars in AMC's new series, The Son, which is set to premiere in 2017, and we've got an exclusive first look at the former 007 and his castmates right here. The multi-generational epic tells of the rise and fall of a Texas family and is based on Philipp Meyer's acclaimed novel of the same name, which was a Pulitzer Prize finalist for fiction. See the photos, ahead.
Brosnan plays the charismatic patriarch Eli McCullough, father to Pete (Henry Garrett, Poldark) and grandfather to Jeannie (Tony nominee Sydney Lucas, Fun Home). Eli was born on the day Texas became an independent Republic — he's oft called the "First Son of Texas" — and is "uneasy with the inexorable taming of Texas and the uncertain future of his legacy." Meanwhile, Pete is described as struggling to "make his impossible father proud while forging his own identity."
Pete's daughter Jeannie, on the other hand, is a "strong-willed tomboy" who "rejects her fate of existing solely to marry well and bear children."
As a young boy, Eli was kidnapped and raised among the Comanche Native American tribe. Toshaway, played by Zahn McClarnon (Fargo), is the war chief who serves as a father figure for Eli.
Another V.I.P. Father
Carlos Bardem, older brother to Javier Bardem, plays Pedro Garcia.
The McCullough Clan Continues
Jess Weixler (The Good Wife) also stars as Sally McCullough, and David Wilson Barnes (Hell on Wheels) plays Phineas McCullough.
