The Hills, then and now
Years ago, The Hills made its debut on MTV. Starring Laguna Beach alum Lauren Conrad — and featuring a supporting cast of Whitney Port, Audrina Patridge, Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Brody Jenner, and Lo Bosworth, among others — the show ran for six seasons and became one of the network's most successful reality shows. The unscripted drama and its original cast returned for the 2019 revival series The Hills: New Beginnings, however, it was canceled after two seasons. But don't worry, MTV ordered another reboot with a more diverse cast of Gen-Zers. To honor the show's roots, here's a rundown of the original cast, then and now.

Lauren Conrad
After stepping back from Laguna Beach in 2005, Conrad got her own spin-off show with The Hills. The series followed the former Laguna Beach High School student as she made her way to Los Angeles to chase her fashion dreams. She left The Hills in the show's fifth season and kicked off a successful business career in the lifestyle space soon after. Conrad published her first book in 2009, the novel L.A. Candy, and went on to release additional works of fiction and best-selling guides like Lauren Conrad Style, Lauren Conrad Beauty, and Lauren Conrad Celebrate. The reality alum expanded her empire with fashion lines, blogs, retail collections, and an eco-friendly makeup brand. Conrad married musician William Tell in 2014, and the couple welcomed two sons, Liam James and Charlie Wolf, in 2017 and 2019. Conrad didn't return for New Beginnings.

She competed on the show's 11th season, placing seventh with partner Tony Dovolani. Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt
Known collectively as "Speidi," Montag and Pratt became The Hills' most-hated couple after Pratt joined the show in its second season. Conrad's former best friend and Brody Jenner's villainous bro started dating in 2007, going on to tie the knot in a 2009 ceremony that was featured in an episode of The Hills. While Montag pursued both singing and acting careers, both she and Pratt are still best known for reality TV, thanks to appearances on Celebrity Big Brother; I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!; and Marriage Boot Camp. Speidi welcomed baby Gunner Stone in October 2017, and brought the youngster with them to the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards to announce they'd be joining the reboot. Since the New Beginnings' cancellation, the couple announced in 2022 that they're having a second child.
