People's Choice Awards 2014: We Grade the Looks

I can't remember if I've ever seen a Jessica Alba movie, but her red carpet looks are always memorable. Alba scores another win for this Jason Wu zip-front dress, which she paired with Casadei heels, a RODO clutch, and jewelry by Jennifer Meyers. A

She may be newly single, but Malin Akerman looks every inch the Trophy Wife in this Cushnie Et Ochs dress. And not in a good way. C-

Watch out Tina and Amy, People's Choice hosts Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs make a pretty stylish duo. The sharp-tongued Dennings looked soft and romantic in her David Meister Signature gown, and Behrs' Giulietta dress is tres chic. B+ for both ladies

While I'm not crazy about the pattern on Heidi Klum's Armani gown — it looks like a glitter bomb went off in her dressing room — I love the gown itself. I'm torn. C+

When a celebrity looks terrible on the red carpet, fashion journalists advise her to fire her stylist. Dear Nina Dobrev, you look so amazingly sexy in this Jenny Packham dress and Charlotte Olympia sandals, you should buy your stylist (Ilaria Urbinati) a Porsche. A

Sure, compared to the stars in gowns, Sandra Bullock looked a little business casual in her Peter Pilotto dress. But an A-lister like Sandy knows that awards season is a marathon, not a sprint, and there will be plenty of opportunities to go full glam. I already can't wait to see what she's going to wear to the Oscars. B+

Did Cheryl Burke borrow her dress from the Dancing With the Stars wardrobe department? D

This clean, curve hugging Kaufman Franco dress makes Jennifer Hudson this person's choice for most improved red carpet style star. A

Marg Helgenberger demonstrates why leather is a hard look to pull off on the red carpet. Is she going to an after-party at an S&M club? Also, those shoes look like ostrich feet. D

At first glance, I thought Naya Rivera was Jennifer Lopez. While I'm not usually a fan of the mullet dress (short in the front, long in the back), the Glee star looks so hot in her color-block sheath she almost changed my opinion. Almost. C+
