Wes Anderson turns in a terrific debut as an animation director, adapting Roald Dahl’s children’s book into a furry wonderland, and giving lead voice actors George Clooney and Meryl Streep a chance to be foxy in a whole new way.
UGLY BETTY on ABC
After a sag in quality (and ratings), ABC bumped this former phenomenon over to the graveyard of Fridays, where they no doubt expected it to languish and die. Instead, the comedy is enjoying a creative resurgence with a return to season 1’s glorious combination of bitchy humor and big heart. So while we’re not saying cancel your dinner plans, you might want to set the DVR.

RUSSELL on Survivor: Samoa
He’s a cocky, backstabbing, misogynist liar whose crazy-eyed manipulation of his fellow castaways initially made us cringe. But then he found the hidden immunity idol without using any clues — twice! Now watching him wreak havoc on the sanity of his enemies is sheer pleasure — and the 19th season of this show is too.

Our favorite mustachioed plumber gets a fresh, challenging update that stays true to his synth-soundtracked roots while adding (literally) cool stuff like a penguin suit that lets him throw snowballs.
”TV IN THE RADIO,” Wale feat. K’Naan
These two gentlemen would like you to know they are more original than you, on a punchy, horn-backed hip-hop track whose title is no coincidence: TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek produced it.

From the novel by EW’s own Stephen King! This reissue includes the great making-of doc on what is hands-down the scariest movie ever about a giant psycho dog. (Unless you count Beethoven.)
The Killers’ LIVE FROM THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL CD/DVD
The Vegas natives may be playing one of the world’s most venerable concert halls, but that doesn’t mean they can’t use pyro. When Brandon Flowers et al. explode into closing number ”When You Were Young,” and the fans start to sing (and then jump) along, it’s a wonder those 138-year-old walls stay standing.
