Taking a Stand Against the Gender Pay Gap
Lawrence penned a powerful essay for Lena Dunham’s Lenny Letter in October 2015, taking on the issue of gender pay inequality, as she’s seen in her own experience in Hollywood. “I would be lying if I didn’t say there was an element of wanting to be liked that influenced my decision to close the deal without a real fight,” she wrote. I didn’t want to seem ‘difficult’ or ‘spoiled.’ At the time, that seemed like a fine idea, until I saw the payroll on the Internet and realized every man I was working with definitely didn’t worry about being ‘difficult’ or ‘spoiled.'”
Visiting a Children's Hospital
The Oscar winner took time out of her busy schedule to visit the Shriners Hospital for Children in Montreal in August 2015. She spent time with patients, family members, and staff.
Doing a Killer Cher Impression
Lawrence took her late-night talk show antics to the next level in July 2015. The Hunger Games actress busted out an unforgettable Cher impression, putting on a performance of the singer’s “Believe.”
Falling Down the Red Carpet
The star didn’t let a tumble at the Madrid premiere of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 ruin her day. As she did at the Oscars, Lawrence took it in stride, continuing on with her glamorous night.
Kissing Natalie Dormer
Lawrence had a bit of an awkward moment when she went to greet The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 costar Natalie Dormer at the movie’s London premiere in November 2015. She ended up kissing Dormer, exclaiming, “We just kissed on camera. And I liked it.”
Falling Down at the 2013 Oscars
What’s more difficult: winning an Oscar or walking up stairs in a ball gown to accept said Oscar? It might just be a tie for Lawrence, whose spill at the 85th Academy Awards made us love the Best Actress winner even more.
Vacationing with Amy Schumer
This summer, the stars aligned and gave us a whole new set of friendship goals when Schumer invited Lawrence to join her on a vacation with her pals from high school. Luckily for us, this was just the beginning: They’re collaborating on a movie, in which they’ll play sisters.
Fan-Girling Over Bill Murray at Comic-Con
Lawrence has been harboring a not-so-secret obsession with Murray for a while now. “I have been, like the rest of the world, a huge fan of Bill Murray for a really long time,” she told reporters at a press conference for The Hunger Games. “I kind of spoke to him through Woody Harrelson. I would send emails to Woody, mostly when I was drunk, of things I always wanted to say to Bill Murray, and so he received them.” Her dreams came true when the two met at 2015’s Comic-Con – and the resulting photograph of J.Law in full fangirl form made all our dreams come true, too.
Freaking Out Over Jack Nicholson at the 2013 Oscars
J.Law’s personal fandom isn’t limited just to Murray: During a post-win interview at the 2013 Oscars, she geeked out over screen legend Jack Nicholson, making the “Oh. My. GOD.” face we’d all make if Jack Nicholson were to compliment us.
Saying "I Beat Meryl!" in Her 2013 Golden Globes Speech
How do you know when you’ve really made it in Hollywood? For J.Law, it wasn’t starring in a millions-making film franchise, or even getting nominated for a Golden Globe — it was beating out eternal nominee Meryl Streep for the win. At the 2013 Golden Globes, Lawrence was so excited that she couldn’t help but start her speech by exclaiming “I Beat Meryl,” a reference to 1996’s The First Wives Club.
Photobombing Taylor Swift at the Golden Globes
There’s no photobomb quite like a celebrity photobomb — and there’s no celebrity photobomb quite like J.Law’s (except for Benedict Cumberbatch, that is). At the 2014 Golden Globes, she snuck up behind Swift on the red carpet for a photobomb so epic, even J.Law couldn’t have predicted the massive meme-ing that would occur afterwards.
Making Weird Faces at the Paparazzi
Leave it to Lawrence to turn a routine encounter with the paparazzi into an LOL-worthy photo session. Exhibit A: Sticking her tongue out as she sidled up to Elizabeth Banks at the Four Seasons.
Standing Up For Herself in Vanity Fair
Lawrence showed off her bold side in a more serious vein in a cover story following the summer of 2014’s nude photo hacking. “I think it’s right to speak of it,” she said. “It didn’t feel right to make a public statement, but it does need to be talked about. And I was afraid that by sitting and doing nothing, that made it seem okay for other women and girls to just let it happen to them, because it isn’t.”
Spilling Mints at the Catching Fire Press Conference
Really, it’s J.Law’s relatability that makes her so lovable — like the time she spilled a bunch of mints at a press conference for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, much to the amusement of costars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. Been there.
Cozying Up With Lots of Stars for Ellen DeGeneres' Epic Oscars Selfie
DeGeneres will forever be an Oscars legend for bringing together this crew of celebs for what could quite possibly be the most Oscar-worthy selfie ever. (We were going to suggest Best Picture — get it?)
