BEST: Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence rarely plays it safe during awards season, but this crimson Dior design with daring side cutouts (and amazing diamond collar!) is absolutely fearless. Just one question: It this winning look 100% trip-proof?

BEST: Alicia Vikander

Delicate Danish Girl star Alicia Vikander has been sporting Louis Vuitton all season (she’s a model for the brand), so she’s used to wearing straight-off-the-runway looks. That said, this is definitely her biggest red carpet moment to date, since this ivory sequined Louis Vuitton design – its feminine ruffles a complete contrast to its suspender-style back – is guaranteed to wow over fashion fiends. (Even if in the words of EW staffer, it looks somewhat like a “fancy pinafore.")

BEST: Laverne Cox

Can we just take a moment to applaud Laverne Cox for her choice of gown here? She looks luscious – yup, we said it – in an icy-white, figure-skimming column gown by Elizabeth Kennedy. Also, by taking a classic Hollywood look and making it her own, Cox is making it clear she’s not about subscribing to old standards – she’s about turning them on their head and creating a new kind of cool.

The model-turned-actress was angelic in Saint Laurent. She opted for a dreamy gold dress with delicate straps, embellished detailing, and a flowing skirt.

Sophisticated in a midnight navy, floor-skimming Zac Posen gown, small screen star Gina Rodriguez looked absolutely flawless. Slay queen, slay!

At just 9 years old, Room star Tremblay is already impressing on the red carpet. The young star was dapper beyond his years in a black tuxedo and a black bow tie with a coiffed hairstyle.

Gorgeous as ever, Wilde turned heads in a plunging Michael Kors gown. With the handsome Jason Sudeikis on her arm, she accessorized with a clasp-top clutch and a statement necklace.

BEST: Judith Light

The Transparent actress lit up the red carpet in a chic white suit. Light paired the cream blazer and high-waisted pants with a sexy white collared shirt, upping the ante with metallic stilettos and simple jewelry.

BEST: Sam Smith

Let’s just state the obvious: Sam Smith looks totally sexual right now, showing off his major weight loss in a dapper slim-cut suit that James Bond would totally endorse. We just have one piece of advice: Next year, make sure to shave before the show.

BEST: Brie Larson

Crowned one of Hollywood’s brightest stars this season, Brie Larson glowed in a sparkly gold, halter-neck Calvin Klein number. And those peek-a-boo cutouts? Sheer sex appeal.

BEST: Zendaya Coleman

Let’s just set the record straight: Zendaya can wear whatever the hell she wants and still look amazing. However, she looks like sheer perfection in this super-modern Marchesa gown, its swoon-worthy color and tiered silhouette glamorous and gorgeous – a great choice, hands down.

BEST: Lady Gaga

BEST: Lady Gaga

Meet Lady Gaga, version 52.0 (or is it 43247382021??? I’ve totally lost count.) Gone are meat dresses or mammoth, rainbow-colored wigs: Instead, Gaga embodies total glam in a vampy, off-the-shoulder Versace gown. And that hair! You have to love a girl that wears a stylized bob that appears double-dipped in two shades of blonde, a subtle hint to her wild pop star past.

BEST: Viola Davis

BEST: Viola Davis

A glamorous-looking Viola Davis had fans seeing stars with this shimmery, ombré Marchesa gown. On anyone else, it’d be gaudy; on her, it’s proof that the How To Get Away with Murder lead is basically the whole universe. (And we love her for it!)

WORST: Eva Longoria

In theory, this keyhole neckline and mermaid silhouette should work on petite Telenovela star Eva Longoria, but the sequins and floral embroidery? Better luck next time.

WORST: Bryce Dallas Howard

One of the first stars on the red carpet outside of the Beverly Hilton, Howard didn't do herself justice in a lace-embellished sleeved gown. The dated pattern and dark palette kept the gorgeous actress from shining through.

WORST: Kate Hudson

WORST: Kate Hudson
Credit: Jason Merritt/Getty Images

This look just isn’t one of her best, a barely there column dress with a cropped midsection that appears to have been sacrificed in order to wrap said fabric around her neck. Thankfully, the SAG Awards are in just a few weeks and we’re hoping she can make up for this outfit.

WORST: Patricia Arquette

Patricia Arquette won an Oscar last year, and this year was swallowed whole by the bow on her dress.

WORST: Channing Tatum

Far from his Magic Mike XXL sex appeal, Tatum veered into greasy and grimey territory at the Globes. While his tuxedo was a perfect fit for the red carpet, the actor's piecey hairstyle and questionable facial hair took the attention away from his black tie attire.
