'Glee': What's Ahead for 12 Faves

1
RACHEL (LEA MICHELE)
Where we left her: The New Directions crew was afraid that Rachel ''Trout Mouth'' Berry would spill the news that Puck was really the father of Quinn?s baby to Finn, and they were right... she did. At Sectionals, she carried the team on her back with the late addition of ''Don?t Rain on My Parade'' (a song she only had been working on since age four). She was once again the star of the show, and showed Finn how much she cares about him.
What's coming up: Rachel is wooed by Jesse St. James (Jonathan Groff), the lead singer of competitors Vocal Adrenaline. Says Murphy, ''She?s sort of all over the map as most girls at 16 are. She?s just trying to find herself, while being the leader of the club. In one episode, she loses her voice which is hilarious.''

FINN (CORY MONTEITH)
Where we left him: Finn was the last to know that he wasn?t the father of Quinn?s baby (that would be his best friend Puck). He felt betrayed and quit New Directions right before Sectionals. Despite his hurt feelings he decided to rejoin the team (without speaking to Quinn or Puck) when they needed him most and came up with the brilliant idea to sing ''You Can?t Always Get What You Want,'' which helped the glee club soar to first place.
What's coming up: Finn will continue his rollercoaster relationship with Rachel while also dealing with the affections of Kurt. Says Falchuk, ''Finn is struggling with a number of things. This is a new kind of world for him: balancing being the jock and being in glee club. There?s a lot of great stuff between him and Kurt. That relationship gets explored a lot.''

WILL SCHUESTER (MATTHEW MORRISON)
Where we left him: Mr. Schuester finally found out the truth regarding his wife Terri?s fake pregnancy. Outraged and heartbroken, he told Terri he no longer loved her. His flirtation with Emma, who'd been left at the altar by Ken, was realized in a dramatic kiss. After being banned from attending sectionals, Mr. Schuester was reinstated as New Directions? director.
What's coming up: Look for Mr. Schuester to be sluttin? it up a bit. Says Murphy, ''He?s been with somebody since he was 15 years old so, now that he?s getting divorced, this is the first time he gets to figure out who he is. He?s become like the kids in the sense that he?s sort of going through his own adolescence.''

QUINN (DIANNA AGRON)
Where we left her: After months of lying, Rachel broke the news to Finn that Puck was the father of her baby. Confronted by an enraged Finn, the pregnant cheerleader realized how much her own fear had hurt others. Instead of feeling relieved by the truth and accepting help from others, she turned away and told Puck that she wanted to deal with her baby on her own.
What's coming up: Aside from giving birth to her baby by the end of the season, Quinn will have to face her new status at school. ''Now because of her situation, she?s really being seen differently so she sees herself different,'' says Falchuk. ''Some of those things are good and some of those are bad. We definitely explore what it?s like to be at the top of the mountain and what it feels like to be at the bottom of the mountain.?

PUCK (MARK SALLING)
Where we left him: Finn confronted the mohawked bad boy after he learned the truth about Quinn?s baby and the two former best friends had it out in a hallway brawl. Puck offered to support Quinn throughout her pregnancy, claiming he could be a good father and a good boyfriend, but was rejected, and left in the end without a girlfriend or a best friend.
What's coming up: Puck will be his typical flirtatious self and romance Rachel, Quinn, and — surprise — Mercedes! ''She has an affair with Puck,'' says Murphy. ''Is there any girl on the show he?s not with? He?s a manwhore this season and we love it.''

SUE SYLVESTER (JANE LYNCH)
Where we left her: Was removed as Cheerios coach and suspended from McKinley High after Principal Figgins found out she leaked the Glee club?s set list to the other groups. She fled to her condo in Boca, but not before threatening Will with the Sue Sylvester Express: Destination Horror!
What's coming up: Aside from performing an amazing near scene-for-scene remake of Madonna?s ''Vogue'' in the April 20 episode, we?ll get a little more backstory into what makes Sue tick. ''She has more scenes with her sister,'' says Murphy. ''There?s a great romantic episode where you really see why Sue is so ambitious and ruthless. I love that character because the more we get into the run of the show, the deeper you sort of understand why she is how she is which I love.''

EMMA (JAYMA MAYS)
Where we left her: She stepped in as leader of the glee club when Will was banned from attending Sectionals, and thus pushed back her wedding to Ken (so it didn?t have to happen in broad daylight). Ken later broke up with her, explaining she will always choose Schuester over him. Mortified, Emma sent a letter of resignation to Principal Figgins, hoping to avoid seeing both Ken and Will at school. When Will informed her that he had left Terri, she explained it was too soon for them to start seeing each other. Luckily, Will didn?t give up that easily, and the two shared a romantic kiss in the hallway, finally acting on their months of flirtation.
What's coming up: Emma and Will finally get the chance to be together but it won?t necessarily be easy. ''It?s the challenges of what is a relationship when it stops becoming projection,'' says Falchuk. ''It?s not always as romantic and beautiful as you dreamed it would be but sometimes that makes it better. It?s like that moment at the end of The Graduate.''

KURT (CHRIS COLFER)
Where we left him: The style expert of the glee club still harbors a massive crush on Finn. He viewed Rachel as competition for Finn?s heart and intentionally sabotaged the diva by giving her a horrendous makeover in hopes that it would lessen her chances with the quarterback.
What's coming up: Kurt?s relationships with both his father and Finn will be further explored. ''One of the stories that we really love on the show is the Kurt/Burt Hummel relationship, the father/son,'' says Murphy. ''Kurt's father and Finn's mother begin to date so Kurt's little secret crush on Finn comes out in the form of 'Let's decorate our new bedroom together.'''

MERCEDES (AMBER RILEY)
Where we left her: She had her own moment, proving to Rachel and the rest of the club, that she knows a thing or two about ballads. She gave an unstoppable performance of the essential diva classic ''And I Am Telling You, I'm Not Going'' from Dreamgirls, solidifying her spot as a powerhouse vocalist within the group, and not just a Kelly Rowland-style back up singer.
What's coming up: Mercedes will embark on a romance with Puck and a new, surprising friendship with Quinn. ''She becomes unlikely friends with Quinn,'' says Murphy. ''That's become a great duo for us. We have a whole episode dedicated to her being inspiring to all the other kids in the school, anybody who feels different or unloved. She has a big pep rally showstopper number coming up in episode 3 that's among the best stuff we've ever done.''

ARTIE (KEVIN McHALE)
Where we left him: After he and Tina shared a kiss, he was hurt to learn that she was faking her speech impediment, and explained that he thought being different was something they shared. When Principal Figgins announced the school lacked funds for an accessible bus to sectionals, Artie was honest with his group about how it feels to be different from everyone else, expressing himself through song (''Dancing With Myself'').
What's coming up: Artie will mend his relationship with Tina and also deal further with being in a wheelchair. ''Artie has another amazing episode where we really focus on him and his condition,'' says Falchuk. ''In the way that 'Wheels' was about his physical condition, 'Dream On' is about his emotional condition. It?s getting into what it?s emotionally like to be in a wheelchair.''

TINA (JENNA USHKOWITZ)
Where we left her: Faked a speech impediment as a way to drive people away from her, because of her own shyness. After going up against Rachel for the ''Tonight'' solo, she proved herself with ''True Colors.'' She revealed the truth about her stutter to Artie, and explained that she no longer wanted to hide out.
What's coming up: Tina and Artie will reconcile and she?ll become?a demon?! Says Murphy, ''My favorite thing is that she convinces the principal that she?s a vampire.''

TERRI (JESSALYN GILSIG)
Where we left her: Her lies and attempts at fake gynecology finally caught up with her as Will learned that she wasn?t pregnant but was planning to take Quinn?s baby and pass it off as her own. Will, of course, left her claiming he could no longer see the woman he originally had fallen in love with.
What's coming up: Terri will return with even more drama. ''She comes back with a really big story towards the end of the back nine,'' says Murphy. ''I don?t wanna say what that is. Terri?s always gonna be sticking around.''
