DIRECTOR LOUIS LETERRIER: [Neeson's] sons were very excited for him to play Zeus. That was his main reason for accepting the job. They're avid Greek mythology freaks. They said, What? You get to play Zeus? That's cool, Dad, do it!

DIRECTOR LOUIS LETERRIER: ''[Getting Neeson into costume] was a whole process. There was the armor, there was a beard. It was very complicated, his makeup. His mustache was his. And on top of that he had a very beautiful wig. On this movie, between the gods and the creatures and everything, I could see the actors coming in the front door in the morning, and as soon as they came on set, they were almost in a trance from four hours of makeup and costumes. I'd done a monster movie before with The Hulk, but it was CG. It was not a lot of makeup and hair and prosthetics. This time around, I really had to direct actors that were in character the ten hours they were on set with me. So he was Zeus.''

DIRECTOR LOUIS LETERRIER: ''There was no way they could sit down with the armor. You had to stand up. We created these stand-up beds they could just lay on and rest. It was also the hottest week in England last summer, and it was so hot. Everybody had to be on their best behavior to get the shots done. And Liam was such a trooper, he never complained. He always had little fans blowing in his face, but he never said, I want to take off this armor, I can't take it anymore. He stayed in character; he was Zeus.''

DIRECTOR LOUIS LETERRIER: ''This is a creature movie with CG characters everywhere and green screens galore. It was a very short post-production. But we folded the post into the entire movie. We started editing while I was shooting.''

DIRECTOR LOUIS LETERRIER: ''It's almost like I had my own set of very expensive action figures; I could walk out and here was Ralph Fiennes, Danny Huston, and Liam Neeson all standing there waiting for me to call them.''

LIAM NEESON
DIRECTOR LOUIS LETERRIER: ''[Neeson filmed a few weeks after Natasha Richardson's death] I was amazed. I couldn't imagine him still wanting to do it. But he had promised his sons he'd do it. And his sons were on set with us. Frankly, I didn't know how to talk to him about that, so I never talked to him about it. But he was fantastic.''
