TRUE COLORS Bye, Cyndi. We miss your antics already.
HOW YOU KNOW HIM: Depends. If you’re older than 30, then he’s the lead singer of ’80s metal band Poison. If you’re younger, he’s the star of a string of VH1 reality shows like Rock of Love.
GAMEPLAN: Michaels plans to let his competitors underestimate him — and that’s when he’ll strike. ”All these people are nice to me and they’re all friends,” Michaels says of his Celebrity Apprentice brethren. ”But without a doubt, they’re looking at me like, this guy can party, but he doesn’t know s— about business, right?”
HOW YOU KNOW HER: She is the wife of Black Sabbath rocker Ozzy, star of various reality shows (MTV’s The Osbournes, VH1’s Charm School, NBC’s America’s Got Talent, etc.), and mother to Jack and Kelly.
GAMEPLAN: Osbourne’s plan is to simply have no plan. ”I don’t have a strategy,” she assures EW. ”The only thing is to work hard and really give it your all. Don’t be a diva about anything. You could ask me to scrub toilets with a toothbrush. If it would raise money for my charity, I would do it.”
HOW YOU KNOW HIM: He won gold medals for sprinting in the Barcelona (1992), Atlanta (1996), and Sydney (2000) Olympics.
GAMEPLAN: Keeping Apprentice master Donald Trump impressed — and he’s off to a good start. ”I won’t say who, but this guy was challenging Michael to a race a number of years ago, really putting a lot of pressure on Michael,” Trump says of why he chose Johnson for the cast. ”And Michael raced him and kicked his a– and I thought that was amazing. I thought it was great.”
HOW YOU KNOW HER: You might have caught Leifer during one of her many appearances doing stand-up on David Letterman. Or, you may recognize her name from TV credits: Leifer has had a successful career working as a writer or producer on shows ranging from Seinfeld and The Larry Sanders Show to Saturday Night Live.
GAMEPLAN: Leifer plans to look to her fellow ladies! ”I think you can underestimate the team aspect of this,” Leifer says. ”But I think the women’s team this year is fierce. I mean, super fierce! I think it’s really the team to beat.”
HOW YOU KNOW HIM: He was a homer-slugging MLB player in the ’80s and ’90s, helping the Mets and the Yankees both to World Series wins. (You may also remember his headline-making struggles with substance abuse.)
GAMEPLAN: Make NYC proud. ”People ask you, ‘Why do you come on the show?”’ Strawberry says. ”Well, I come on the show because of charity, first of all, and because of New York. I’m a New Yorker. This is home. I got a lot of action here.”
HOW YOU KNOW HIM: He’s tabloid fodder: Blagojevich was the governor of Illinois until he was arrested on federal corruption charges and resigned in 2009. His federal trial is set for this summer.
GAMEPLAN: Will he play by the rules? ”I want to be constructive as I can,” Blagojevich says. ”We’ll see — whatever gets the task done. I’m results oriented.”
HOW YOU KNOW HIM: From the wrestling ring. He has several times won those WCW and WWE titles where you hold a big, gaudy belt as a prize.
GAMEPLAN: He’ll intimidate the competition with muscles, muscles, and more muscles. Plus some of those gaudy belts. Does he really need anything else?
Holly Robinson Peete
HOW YOU KNOW HER: Peete is best known for playing undercover cop Judy Hoffs for four seasons on Fox’s ’80s police drama 21 Jump Street. She was also a regular on Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper in the ’90s.
GAMEPLAN: ”I think what I bring is my 11 years of philanthropy, raising money, galvanizing people, motivating people, and producing fundraisers. I’ve got a database to die for,” Peete says. ”With me, I’m the anti-Blagojevich. You’ve never read anything bad about me, I’ve never been on TMZ. The worst scandal I had was being Britney Spears’ neighbor for like five years.?
HOW YOU KNOW HIM: With roots as a stand-up comedian, Sinbad has starred in several HBO specials, movies such as Jingle All the Way and Houseguest, and his own Fox sitcom, The Sinbad Show.
GAMEPLAN: Work those connections! ”What I do best is people,” the comedian says. ”This is my forte. I have a small Rolodex. I have people I can call that can call somebody. I’ll have to hustle that.”
HOW YOU KNOW HER: The Olympics! The swimmer won two golds, one silver, and one bronze at the 1992 Barcelona games. Now, she’s a news/sportscaster, with gigs ranging from covering the recent 2010 Olympics in Vancouver to correspondent gigs on Rachael Ray and Good Morning America.
GAMEPLAN: Sanders is planning to employ a Celebrity Apprentice standard: the sneak attack. ”There’s not a lot I’d like to reveal,” Sanders tells EW, ”but my strategy is to go in like a lamb and out like a lion. I don’t need to make a scene. It’s a marathon, and I’ve run a couple of them, so I plan to be efficient, productive, and a great team player.”
HOW YOU KNOW HER: She’s a semi-famous WWE Diva and recent Playboy cover girl.
GAMEPLAN: Think like she does in the ring! ”It’s like everyone is fighting for a brass ring,” Kanellis says, ”whether it be a wrestling belt or an Emmy or a Grammy or whatever it is. Everybody’s fighting for something.”
HOW YOU KNOW HIM: Honestly, you probably don’t. Stone is a celebrity chef — in Australia. But you may recognize him from TLC’s Take Home Chef or his guest appearances on Today, The Biggest Loser, and Oprah.
GAMEPLAN: Keep it simple. ”I think with everything I do,” Stone says, ”if you stick to the basic fundamentals — which are, for me, being honest, working hard, and being a team player — I think that stands you in pretty good stead.”
HOW YOU KNOW HER: You’ve most likely seen her in Victoria’s Secret advertisements — Ebanks is a former Angel. She’s also appeared on How I Met Your Mother and in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. (Oh, and she used to be engaged to Nick Cannon, a.k.a. Mr. Mariah Carey.)
GAMEPLAN: We’re guessing her stunning good looks could help her win a few challenges. Plus, you know The Donald has a thing for models.
