6. Amber Holcomb
The judges love her (cue inorganic standing O!) and her vocals are often flawless, but I never get the sense she’s connecting to her songs. To the casual viewer unconcerned with these kids’ future marketability (those LEGS), it just seems like Amber’s coasting from one ballad to the next.
5. Janelle Arthur
She and Kree are tied for me — and may be splitting the country vote as well. Janelle landed in the bottom last week, but she’s been steadily improving…and her sense of fun onstage is infectious.
4. Kree Harrison
Vocally, Kree has always been a stunner. She still needs to let loose and find some way other than perfectly pitched notes and runs that she’s feeling the music. Also, girl, you have a pinched nerve. It might be okay to ditch the heels for one night!
3. Lazaro Arbos
Mr. Tight Pants seems unable to learn lyrics and even more unable to care about his blatant incompetence. And yet here he is…voted into the Top 3 last week!
2. Angie Miller
Now that she knows what works (starting at the piano, wind machines) and what doesn’t (”You Better Shop Around,” dancing), she should make smart choices both the judges and teen voters will like. Something tells me she’s getting the most votes overall….
1. Candice Glover
She may not be the judges’ top pick, but Candice still has the most compelling vocal and the most engaging performance style by far — and enough versatility to keep us guessing.
