Aaliyah Through the Years
On Aug. 25, 2001, the world said goodbye to Aaliayh. Born Aaliyah Haughton in Brooklyn on January 16, 1979, the famed singer died at the age of 22 while traveling in the Bahamas. The late star rose to fame in the ’90s, making a huge impact over the course of her too-short life thanks to the release of three studio albums — 1994’s Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number, 1996’s One in a Million, and 2001’s Aaliyah — and a foray into acting that included a turn in Romeo Must Die. Aaliyah’s legacy lives on years later, often cited as an inspiration for modern artists. See photos of the late performer through the years, ahead.
