9 Crazy Reality TV Challenges
Survivor: Mouthful of Meat
Yes, Survivor is all about extreme challenges but there was something just ridiculously gross about this one that had the teams biting meat off a bone and spitting it out into a bowl. Big hunks of fat were getting stuck in teeth, spit and slobber were flying out. Watching it is enough to make you want to hurl. Don't get us started on the fact that at the end, the victors took all that regurgitated meat home.
Top Model: The Bass-ackward Challenge
The usual amounts of model crazy were amped up when the all-stars had to write a song using the words "pot ledom" (Top Model backwards) and make a video for it — a hot mess of big eyes, pouty lips, and bad lyrics.
Amazing Race: The (Really) Big Cheese
Season 14's opener signaled the start of an invigorated run when members of 11 teams had to lug ?50-lb. wheels of cheese down a hill ?in Switzerland. Pretty soon, the wooden cheese ''aging racks'' that had been strapped to their backs began splintering, the contestants started falling, and a classic episode was born.
Project Runway: One Man's Garbage...
We all know the show is about making it work, but...rooting around in the trash? Season 3 fan favorite Michael Knight found a way with his gold Mylar bustier and peanut-sack pencil skirt. Vincent's too-long paper sack, however, was a big miss.
Scream Queens: Filthy Maggots
This test to become the scream queen sent maggots raining down on all of the wannabe stars, and while it was clearly difficult for some of them to handle having the squirmy things all over them, it was almost as challenging for us to watch scene after scene of maggots falling into their mouths.
Top Chef: Chefs on a Plane
Instruct a bunch of foodies to make restaurant-quality food for an airline's first class service — but use all the necessary restrictions — and things are bound to get dicey. As usual, tempers flared and the judges (particularly Anthony Bourdain, who likened one dish to cat food) were not impressed.
Big Brother: Top Banana
Season 13's first Head of Household competition was called, ''Going Bananas,'' in which the houseguests had to hang on to a giant dangling banana while having chocolate sauce sprayed on them. Never has hanging in there meant so much.
Fear Factor: The Grossest Pizza Party Ever
Grossing us out was always a Fear Factor specialty, but this grotesque pizza took the cake. With a crust made from cow bile, coagulated blood paste for sauce, rancid cheese, and topping choices like live red worms and fish eyes, it was guaranteed to roil some stomachs. But the contestants stepped up and one by one they devoured the vile concoction.
Celebrity Apprentice: Not So Wild About Harry
Hawking things is a big part of the Celebrity Apprentice playbook, but is it kid-tested? Not so much. When contestants like Bret Michaels and Rod Blagojevich had to create a realistic 3-D preview of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the gender-separated teams produced some overly frightful setups. Way to creep out the kids, guys.
