PLANET OF THE APES (2001)
Tim Burton seriously misfired with this adaptation of the Pierre Boulle novel, which has Mark Wahlberg battling totally fake-looking chimps (including Tim Roth). Stick to the superior 1968 version, starring Charlton Heston.—Youyoung Lee
Father of the Bride (1991)
There’s a good chance your father will never admit to his poker buddies that he can stomach this touchy-feely dramedy, which aptly captures the mixture of chaos and emotion that accompanies a child’s wedding. But the truth is, there’s nothing a daddy would love more than to curl up on the couch with his little girl and a box of Kleenex to watch Steve Martin give away his daughter’s hand.

Steve Martin The Pink Panther (2006)
True, Steve Martin‘s over-the-top French accent increased the funny factor of the flawed 2006 remake, but we can’t let him off too easy, as we’d be hard-pressed to find a Frenchman would twist the pronunciation of hamburger into damburgen. —Kate Ward
