The Way We Were (1973)
It?s an overrated piece of fluff, that?s what it is. — Normandy
I hated The Way We Were! Her character was so annoying!! The whole film was tortuous. — Liz Lemon

Love Story (1970)
Love Story just did NOT age well. I loved it when I was a kid: made me cry and everything. Now it?s laughable smaltz, and I can?t remember what I ever saw in it that I liked. — Vicki
Love Story is AWFUL! How it ever got to be known as a ''classic'' is beyond me. It?s sinfully boring, and the melodrama of it is laughably jejune. — M
I mean there is no meaningful dialogue and they never really explain what is going on. Very little romance and not much physical going on because of the era it was made. Ali McGraw and Ryan O?Neal never came across as being head over heels in love, and the movie is just bad, laughable in fact. No classic in my book. — DeeDee

The Sound of Music (1965)
I watched The Sound of Music closely last year and realized it is, in fact, a poorly made movie. Actors' faces are in shadows during speaking parts, scenery is relied on much too heavily. Good story and songs, but as a film it stinks. — Ames

His Girl Friday (1940)
Ooh, His Girl Friday is a terrific example because I didn?t care for that brand of humor. While you?re at it, all of the Hepburn-Tracy rom-coms of the ?40s are dull. — Zach

Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
Growing up, I loved watching old movies and heard this to be epic. Was never on TV, couldn?t find it to rent. Finally came on PBS, commercial-free. I was so excited. I fell asleep 3 times. Every time I woke up, just more walking on sand. — mlk

An Affair to Remember (1957)
Sleepless in Seattle ruined Affair to Remember for me. Every time it?s on, all I can think about is Meg Ryan, Rosie O?[Donnell] and Rita Wilson bawling, and Tom Hanks? WTF look. — SRD
I think if you see Sleepless in Seattle beforehand, it ruins it. You expected so much, for it to be this AMAZING love story, but it drags on. — Jane

The English Patient (1996)
My sister raved on about the The English Patient and insisted I watch it. I fell asleep the first time I tried to watch it, then got about halfway through it and decided life was just too short to waste this much time on a visual version of Tylenol PM. — Kiki

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
I have tons of respect for it from a technical standpoint, HAL is a terrific villain, and the effects hold up remarkably well more than 40 years later. The only problem is that it bores me to tears. (Sorry) — Ceballos
Yep. 2001 was boring as hell. Even WITH illegal substances. — Mel

Forrest Gump (1994)
Amen. WAAAAYYY overrated bit of fluff pretending to be important. Plus I can?t believe it beat Pulp Fiction for Best Picture. — Justin
Thank God! Tom Hanks is simply not good in this movie — he found an accent from a 10-year-old and used it throughout?and that?s about all his performance is. There are so many freakin? flaws in this movie...still surprised how many people find it to be ?'one of the best ever.'? — Nate

Gone With the Wind (1939)
Scarlett was supposed to be the ''heroine,'' yet she was a spoiled, rude, immoral tramp. The only part of the movie I liked was where Rhett walked out on her — I just wish it had happened about 3 hours sooner! — Flyer

Citizen Kane (1941)
I totally agree about Citizen Kane. Maybe it was too hyped before I saw it, but I found it a bit dull. Not to mention I have known what Rosebud was since I was 6 years old. — Ari

The Exorcist (1973)
I don?t get why The Exorcist is such a horror classic. The kid spewing green stuff with her head turning?sorry, it just made me laugh. — Regan

Doctor Zhivago (1965)
What?s lovely and romantic about a man leaving his wife and child in the freezing-cold dead of winter to run off with another woman? Seriously, what am I missing? — Julie

The Wizard of Oz (1939)

I LOATHE Close Encounters. It is the WORST. It makes me want to scratch my eyeballs out of my head. Ugh! — lettergirl

Singin' in the Rain (1952)
It was super cookie-cutter, with nothing distinct about the plot and only one character of any interest (the woman with the terrible speaking voice). Some aspects of it were clever, but otherwise, I found it completely unremarkable. There are better musicals of old and parodies of the film industry. — Molly

Breakfast at Tiffany?s (1961)
The screenplay tore all the meat out of Truman Capote?s novel. — Stormy
I wanted to love it (I love ''Moon River'' and Audrey Hepburn) but just hated it! — Anissa

The Philadelphia Story (1940)
Ugh, I couldn?t stand The Philadelphia Story either. It?s that whole ''lovey-dahling'' acting from Hepburn and Grant. Overrated. — Mary

To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)
What is all of the hype about? This was the biggest snoozefest that I have ever watched. And Atticus Finch is the number 1 top-rated hero of all time?! Sorry, but that goes to Indiana Jones or, if you want your heroes wise, Obi-Wan Kenobi. — Disappointed
THANK YOU! To Kill a Mockingbird is not a good movie. Read the book! Avoid the movie. Read the book! — tug

Annie Hall (1977)
I think people were just afraid to say that they didn?t like it because it is considered a ''classic'' and do not want to be perceived as uneducated, but this so-called comedy is just painful to sit through! — Craig
