Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin reunite at Emmys, slam Trump
Atta girl hit the Emmys on Sunday night, as 9 to 5 stars Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, and Dolly Parton reunited on stage to announce the winner of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series at the 69th annual Primetime Emmy Awards — and take a shot at President Donald Trump.
“Back in 1980 in that movie, we refused to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot,” said Jane Fonda, with Lily Tomlin quickly adding, “And in 2017, we still refuse to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot.”
While they were onstage, Parton also expressed how happy she was being reunited with her costars. “Personally, I have been waiting for a 9 to 5 reunion since we new did the first one,” said Parton, who added that she wanted one of the vibrators from Tomlin and Fonda’s show, Grace and Frankie. (After the commercial break, host Stephen Colbert returned to the stage pretending to have something vibrating in hands and said he had a present for her.)
The Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series went to Alexandra Skarsgard for Big Little Lies.
