Jimmy Kimmel had an eventful, star-jammed commute to the Emmys.

The opening of the 68th annual Emmy Awards saw the host seeking to get to the Microsoft Theater in L.A. on time, beginning his journey in a white Bronco driven by People v. O.J. Simpson actor Malcolm Jamal Warner, who played Al Cowlings on the show and turned out to be too careful of a driver for Kimmel. He was next picked up on the side of the 405 in a minivan driven by Modern Family patriarch Ty Burrell, who had his family in tow. A magic trick gone bad resulted in a car accident, and Kimmel seeking yet another ride.

Enter: James Corden, who welcomed an unwilling Carpool Karaoke passenger as he cued up Wham’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.” Kimmel soon committed — including in a recreation of the mid-80s video — but the pipes weren’t there, prompting the Emmy-winning Corden to disparage his singing and kick him out of the car, and for Kimmel to snipe back,”I voted for Beyoncé!”

Kimmel then flagged down a presidential motorcade with Veep‘s Selina (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) and Gary (Tony Hale), which included an unlikely LBJ sex joke, and an encounter with the most unlikeliest limo driver — and scene stealer — Jeb Bush.

“If you run a positive campaign, the voters will ultimately make the right choice,” the former candidate joked to Kimmel. Bush then kicked him and left with another zinger: “And shave that wig off your face, you Godless Hollywood hippie! Jeb exclamation point!”

After praying to our overlord Oprah Winfrey, he found a ride on a dragon with Game of Thrones‘ Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), whose dragon spit fire on Ryan Seacrest, bringing the entertaining bit to the end, because there was no else to go but out on stage.

After the opening, Bush tweeted at Kimmel, asking the host to give the former candidate a strong rating on Uber.
