The silver lining to being rejected by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences? Simple: You get an automatic invite to the official Losers Lounge party, sponsored by nine-time Emmy loser Amy Poehler and 11-time loser Jon Hamm.

“We figured that the winners get celebrated enough so we thought it was about time that the losers get celebrated,” Hamm told E! News a few days before this year’s Emmys telecast.

“Poehler and I are friends from a long time ago,” he continued, explaining that he and his pal spent the night of the 2012 Emmys partying with other non-winners in fellow loser Kristen Wiig’s hotel room. “We called it the Losers Lounge because nobody that was there won, and it kind of stuck,” Hamm said. “We were like, ‘That was a really fun party. We should do that again, but we should do it bigger and better and invite our friends who aren’t going to win either and we’ll have a good time with it.'”

Fast-forward one year, and Poehler and Hamm’s Losers Lounge has become an official Thing. The party attracted plenty of boldfaced names, including Mad Men stars January Jones and Elisabeth Moss (who lost twice this year) and actual winner Tina Fey — who could enter only by donating money to the Worldwide Orphans Fund. All told, the party raised almost $20,000, according to The Hollywood Reporter — not bad for a bunch of losers.

THR also snagged an image of the party’s official invitation; see it below.
