EWwy Awards: Best Actress in a Drama?
- TV Show
There’s still plenty of time to vote in the EWwy Awards — EW.com’s fourth annual celebration of performers and series Emmy overlooked. To vote for the Best Actress In a Drama, head to our Facebook page.
With so much talent in the composite to your right, it’s crazy that none of these actresses made the Emmys cut instead of, say, Law & Order‘s Mariska Hargitay or Harry’s Law‘s Kathy Bates. You nominated plenty of deserving leading ladies; we reluctantly narrowed the field to six. Watch them below, then flip through all of this year’s EWwy nominees in our photo gallery.
Anna Torv, Fringe
Snubbed by Emmy again — this time playing two characters!
(Side note: How sexy/adorable is Pacey in that clip?!)
*
Emmy Rossum, Shameless
Rossum is utterly believable — and often hilarious — as scrappy older sibling/mother figure Fiona Gallagher.
*
Lauren Graham, Parenthood
Graham draws you so fully into Sarah Braverman’s motherly angst that you can’t decide whether to cry or slug something.
*
Katey Sagal, Sons of Anarchy
Only someone capable of showing great strength and vulnerability in the same moment could point a gun at a baby.
*
Lisa Edelstein, House
We bumped her up from the supporting category for Lisa’s seventh and final year on the show.
*
Chloe Sevigny, Big Love
The stubborn, buttoned-up Nicki was often the series’ comic relief — making her more somber, serious moments even more poignant.
