Was Star Jones (left, with her dog on the Emmys red carpet) pushed or did she jump? I don’t really care, I’m just relieved that she won’t be anchoring the red carpet coverage for E! anymore. (Her low point last week: asking Lost‘s Terry O’Quinn about his past as a bodyguard and a boxer, prompting a puzzled reaction from the actor, who was neither.) For future awards shows, I’d be happy to see Kathy Griffin move up to greeter-in-chief, but it’ll probably be a long time before E! forgets Griffin’s Dakota Fanning fiasco and lets her come into contact with actual celebrities. So PopWatch will put out the call: Should E! call Joan and Melissa Rivers back from TV Guide Channel purgatory, or is there someone else who should chat up the arriving stars for E!’s awards pre-shows?
