Legion trailer: Marvel X-Men FX series debuts first footage at Comic-Con
Meet David Haller, maybe “the most powerful mutant we’ve ever encountered.”
FX debuted the first footage for its new Marvel X-Men series Legion at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday featuring Dan Stevens (Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast) as the telepathic mutant at the center of this tale.
In the comics, David is the son of Professor Charles Xavier, a character we’ve seen on screen by way of Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy. While FX boss John Landgraf previously said Legion exists in a “parallel universe” to the X-Men films, the trailer stands behind the level of power this character wields.
The mind-altering footage, complete with chaotic telekinetics and trippy dance sequences, also features cast members Aubrey Plaza, Jean Smart, Katie Aselton, and Bill Irwin. The plot follows David, a diagnosed schizophrenic, who has a strange encounter with a fellow patient at a mental institution. He’s then forced to consider the possibility that the voices in his head are something else entirely.
X-Men franchise producers Lauren Schuler Donner, Bryan Singer, and Simon Kinberg are aboard the series, which is set to premiere on FX next year. Watch the trailer above.
