A new season of Arrow, a new villain for the Green Arrow to face.
As revealed during the show’s Comic-Con panel on Saturday, Oliver (Stephen Amell) will be going up against a new archer adversary named Prometheus — though he’s not the DC Comics character created by Grant Morrison. “[It’s] a new character, someone who fits into the theme of legacy this year that’s going to be driving all of our characters, including the big bad,” executive producer Marc Guggenheim said. “He’s pretty badass.”
While Oliver attempts to rebuild Team Arrow, as teased in the new trailer below, he’ll rely heavily on Thea (Willa Holland) to handle the business of being mayor. Among the new members: Madison McLaughlin, who will reprise her role as Evelyn Sharp, Rick Gonzalez, who will play Wild Dog, and Echo Kellum back as Curtis Holt.
“We’ve got some pretty big plans for Curtis, especially with respect to his marriage,” Guggenheim said. “He wants to become a vigilante. He wants to start fighting crime. He’s got his husband at home who is probably going to start to notice he’s coming home with bruises and cuts. That’s going to raise some questions.”

The former Team Arrow members, meanwhile, are not faring particularly well. Felicity is “going to be dealing with a lot of bottled up emotions,” Rickards said. While Amell noted that Oliver still loves Felicity, they’re not currently together — though we’ll get more information on that in episode 5.
Diggle (David Ramsey), meanwhile, is with Special Forces, but is still conflicted about the events of season 5, blaming himself for Laurel’s (Katie Cassidy) death and dealing with the guilt of killing his brother. Speaking of, though Laurel Lance died last season, Cassidy will return for the season premiere, and the Berlanti-verse has struck a deal for her to appear across Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow.
Other new and returning characters in season 5 include Chad L. Coleman as a new villain; Joe Dinicol as Ragman; Tyler Ritter as new cop Detective Malone; Carly Pope as a new Star City reporter; and Josh Segarra, who will take up the mantle of the Vigilante.
Also of note, Guggenheim said that the show’s 100th episode falls during the four-way crossover with The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow, which he said will be a three-parter, the middle episode of which is the landmark hour.
Arrow returns Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
