What did you do, Barry Allen?! That’s the question on everyone’s minds after The Flash confirmed it would be adapting the Flashpoint storyline in season 2. Will the original timeline ever be restored? We hope to get some answers on that and much more during The Flash panel at Comic-Con on Saturday. To prepare for the big event, EW is here to give you a refresher on where the super series finished up its sophomore season:
Where we left off: After defeating Zoom (Teddy Sears) — who seemingly became the Black Flash — and losing his father Henry Allen (John Wesley Shipp), Barry decided he had sacrificed too much, so he traveled back in time to stop the Reverse-Flash from killing his mother Nora (Michelle Harrison). He achieved his goal and watched as the season 1 finale Flash, who weighed doing that exact thing last year, disappeared with a smile.
What we know about season 3: The Flash is officially doing seminal comics storyline Flashpoint, in which Barry finds himself in an alternate timeline where his mother is no longer dead, and most of the world’s heroes are more like villains — Aquaman is at war with Wonder Woman; Batman is Thomas Wayne, not Bruce Wayne; Captain Cold is actually a Central City hero named Citizen Cold.
In other news: Though Harrison Wells left for Earth-2, Tom Cavanagh will be back as a series regular next season. (Theory: He could be the original Wells in the Flashpoint story.) Harry Potter alum Tom Felton has joined the cast as another CSI at CCPD, who has his suspicions about Barry Allen. Wally West will also take up the mantle of Kid Flash (check out his costume here), while John Wesley Shipp will return as Jay Garrick of Earth-3. Wentworth Miller (Captain Cold) and John Barrowman (Malcolm Merlyn) have also signed deals to appear on multiple DC/WB shows, so they’ll likely appear on The Flash in season 3. We’ll also potentially meet Caitlin’s less-than-loveable mother this season. And don’t forget that Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl will cross over for an epic event in December.
Comic-Con burning question: How long will the Flashpoint storyline last?
