For the cast of Heroes Reborn, every day is a lesson in how to give the most tantalizingly vague character description. But while the plot of the series itself may still be cloaked in secrecy, creator Tim Kring says fans can take a few hints from where the show left off.

“The idea is that the world has rejected everybody who has a power,” says Kring, who promises a “slightly more cranked up, thriller quality” to the new season.

Kring joined actors Gatlin Green, Zachary Levi, Judith Shekoni, Rya Kihlstedt, Danika Yarosh, Jack Coleman, Robbie Kay, Henry Zebrowski, and Ryan Guzman in the Entertainment Weekly Lounge at Comic-Con last weekend. Coleman, as the only member of the group to have been in the original series, looked back on finding out that Heroes was returning, while Levi spoke about shaking things up after Chuck: “I think it’s very important in the arts that you constantly challenge yourself and also challenge people’s perceptions of what you do, otherwise you will constantly do the same thing.”

“Hey,” Coleman interrupted. “What are you saying?”

But as Levi pointed out, sometimes the role is that good.
