Comic Con: Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey dishes on Dylan O'Brien bromance
Fans love the unwavering Teen Wolf bromance between Scott McCall and Stiles Stilinski. But what about off the screen? Do Tyler Posey and Dylan O’Brien, who play those respective characters on the hit MTV show, envy anyone else’s male bond? The former does not, that’s for sure; their connection is as strong as it can be.
“I have that,” Posey asserted at the Entertainment Weekly and MTV Cocktail Party — sponsored by LG G4 — on Friday night at Comic-Con. “I have that, man.”
It’s been a driving force in all of the show’s run, a constant as Scott handles adolescence and all its furry complications — namely, growing fur and becoming lupine every so often. The pair and Holland Roden’s Lydia Martin are the only actors to be main cast members in all five seasons. But Posey and O’Brien are as close as their on-camera counterparts.
“We were done, so we just stayed in his car and talked for four hours about everything,” Posey told EW about a post-production moment of friendship at the end of season 5. “It was the best conversation I’ve ever had. It was great.”
He echoed sentiments O’Brien made earlier Thursday during the show’s panel in Ballroom 20 at the San Diego Convention Center. Moderator Kevin Smith asked on how well the two truly get along. “It’s really rare to have a genuine relationship. There can be so many versions,” O’Brien said of the fast-developed relationship as they filmed the pilot. “We are just like brothers.”
That’s not to say that there isn’t a dream bro out there for Posey to bro down with. The 23-year-old picked a pop-punk legend — and the current king of Hollywood. “Definitely Tom DeLonge from blink-182. He’s been my idol since I was 7 years old,” Posey said. “I love that guy. Or Chris Pratt.”
Posey was unaware that about four hours after the Teen Wolf crew visited the EW suite Thursday, DeLonge popped up to promote his animated short film, Poet Anderson: The Dream Walker.
“He was here?” Posey incredulously asked. “F–k. No, I didn’t [see DeLonge]. I didn’t at all. I forget he comes to these.”
It’s okay, Tyler. Dylan will never let you down, he’ll even stick around for at least another year: Teen Wolf was renewed for a sixth season.
Catch season 5 of Teen Wolf as it airs Mondays at 10 p.m. on MTV.
