If there’s anything to be learned from the cast of the sci-fi series Dark Matter, it’s that nothing is at it seems.

The series, based on the comic by writers Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, centers on a group of people who wake up on a spaceship without any memory of who they are or how they got there. “They kind stumble into each other,” said Alex Mallari Jr., who plays Four in the series, when the cast visited the Entertainment Weekly Lounge at Comic-Con Thursday. “We think we’re good people and we do good things, and then all of a sudden we found out we’re not such good people.”

“The action in the middle episodes is spawned from our pasts, and what we find out about our pasts,” added Anthony Lemke, who plays Three. “So what you think you know — what we think we know about ourselves — is totally wrong.”

The cast also teased an upcoming episode with guest star Ruby Rose, who plays Stella in Orange Is the New Black. In Dark Matter, the actress portrays a “wonderful entertainment android,” Lemke said.
