Richard Schiff taken off oxygen after hospitalization for COVID-19: 'Cautiously optimistic'
The West Wing star Richard Schiff is feeling "cautiously optimistic" after he was hospitalized for COVID-19 earlier this week.
"Covid update. I was just taken off Oxygen!! Markers are down. Cautiously optimistic for release soon," he tweeted on Thursday. "Perhaps all the prayers and thoughts need a big thank you."
Schiff added that his wife Sheila Kelley is "also doing better," and encouraged fans to keep up the well wishes.
"Let’s keep sending positivity to everyone out there struggling. We got your back!" he tweeted.
Last week, the actor revealed he and Kelley tested positive for coronavirus on Election Day, calling it "the most bizarre week of our lives." They have been quarantining at home in Canada, where he was filming season 4 of The Good Doctor.
Kelley responded to Schiff's tweet, writing back, "Bravo LOML! Come home now. Please."
In a tweet on Monday, Schiff said he was in the hospital taking the experimental drug Remdesivir, as well as oxygen and steroids. Thanking his fans for the support, he said he was "showing some improvement every day. "
That same day, the L.A. Law actress spoke about her husband's condition and her own experience with COVID-19 on Instagram.
"I have never experienced anything like this before in my life," Kelley wrote. "One minute I'm feeling pretty good and the next I'm struggling to breathe. What I do know is if you get this virus the relationship between you and your body is everything."
She also reminded her followers: "Keep masking up. Washing hands. stay away from this virus. It is a mother'f-er. We love you."
