Katherine Langford on 'Spontaneous'
Based on the popular YA novel, Spontaneous is the next big starring vehicle for Katherine Langford (13 Reasons Why). She plays Mara Carlyle, a high schooler whose life is forever changed when students in her senior class literally start exploding for no discernible reason. She and her friends stay close together, questioning how to live life when tomorrow is no longer promised.
Langford, her cast mates, and director Brian Duffield have exclusively shared an on-set diary from the Awesomeness Films production with EW, featuring all kinds of great commentary on the film. Click through to check it out.

“Spontaneous was such a great experience and gave me the opportunity to try out a role and genre that was so different than anything I’ve ever done or read. Shooting Spontaneous was incredibly special and a story that I was honored to be a part of as it not only challenged me, but also allowed me to have fun! Working with Brian Duffield who not only wrote this, but directed this as well, was amazing and it was a pleasure to be able to execute his vision. I had so much fun on the set and I’m grateful to have been given the opportunity to try something so unique.”

Brian Duffield
"This shot is from the night I worked with Hayley on one of her dance numbers. Contrary to what I was told, Vancouver in February was not like Hawaii in the summer, so that’s why we’re wearing jackets. Hayley was like working with one of those dope Feist music videos, where she shows up and you can’t help but feel the whole movie smile. Even when everyone violently blows up around her."

Brian Duffield on Katherine Langford
"Working with Katherine Langford is probably what it feels like to work with Meryl Streep - You know you’re watching the best actor in the world and are very confused why they’ve agreed to work with you. I’m a professional writer and I can’t even think of what words to use to talk about how incredible she is, both professionally and personally."

“I was familiar with Brian’s work before signing onto Spontaneous, and I was super curious to see in firsthand how his mind works and how he brings his vision to life. Never a dull moment with Brian. It’s great to work with a director who’s so hands on and genuinely cares deeply about the project. Always a plus.”

Hayley Law on Yvonne Orji
“I also geeked a little when I found out Yvonne Orji was cast in the movie. She’s incredible. I really do look up to her, and I’m stoked I got a couple scenes in with her. She's the kind of actress that makes you better in the scene. Just because she sets the bar so damn high. She’s so effortlessly funny.”
