See Ross Lynch as a real-life serial killer on cover of My Friend Dahmer reissue
New version of Derf Backderf's graphic novel comes out Oct. 10
Austin & Ally and Teen Beach star Ross Lynch is leaving his Disney roots way behind by playing serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in the new film, My Friend Dahmer (out Nov. 3).
“My Friend Dahmer is basically the coming of age story of Jeffrey Dahmer,” Lynch told EW earlier this year. “I play Jeffrey Dahmer around his high school years. [It’s about] how he became the serial killer that we know him to be. I was looking for a role that would somewhat be a challenge for me. I had done a lot of work with Disney, and sort of a younger demographic, and I was excited to do something that maybe people didn’t expect from me. And I had a really good time doing it.”
My Friend Dahmer is based on the graphic novel of the same name by the killer’s actual high school acquaintance, Derf Backderf. To coincide with the movie’s release, a new edition of the book is being published Oct. 10, with an introduction by the film’s director, Marc Meyers. The reissue also features a new cover, featuring Lynch, which you can exclusively see below.
