YA authors are joining the ranks of celebrities like Kevin Hart, Beyoncé, and Kim Kardashian in offering support to victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Authors Maureen Johnson (13 Little Blue Envelopes), Marie Lu (Legend), and Tim Federle (Better Nate Than Ever series) all posted links on their Twitter accounts to note they had donated to the efforts — and encouraged followers to do likewise. Lu offered to give $2,000 for the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund from non-profit Global Giving and asked her followers to match.

Several other YA authors joined in, matching donations.

With every donation during the weekend and into Monday, Lu shouted out the authors helping to fundraise. The fundraiser currently has $823,023 of its $2,000,000 goal as of this posting.

Last week, the natural disaster hit the east coast of Texas, devastating parts of Houston and the Gulf Coast and leaving many without homes or access to food and water. According to FEMA, about 450,000 citizens will require assistance.
