Get ready to face some of your nightmares with The World of Lore: Monstrous Creatures.

Based on the award-winning podcast Lore, and penned by host Aaron Mahnke, the first book in his series – which you can exclusively see the cover below – is an illustrated guide to the various monsters and creatures that reside in our deepest fears, like werewolves, vampires, and even poltergeists.

Much like with each episode of the podcast, Mahnke will take readers through the history of these various creatures as he examines the myths and legends from which they originated and explores what those stories say about the people who came up with (or believe in) such tales.

And it’s not just more big-name beasts like wendigos and elves that will be featured in the book. Mahnke will also touch on little-known regional boogeymen, like Robert, a haunted doll that resides in Key West, Florida, or the Pine Barrens of New Jersey, where the Jersey Devil dwells.

The World of Lore: Monstrous Creatures hits bookstores on Oct. 24. Preorder it here.
