Caitlyn Jenner says she gave Kris Jenner a copy of her memoir, The Secrets of My Life, but not the full version that’s available now.

“I gave Kris an advance copy of the book, like a month and a half ago. There was only one but the last few pages weren’t in there. Because we had a few things we didn’t want to talk about,” Caitlyn told Entertainment Weekly books senior editor Tina Jordan for an interview on Entertainment Weekly Radio’s Off the Books. “I gave her that one. She read it. Obviously, she had some differences of opinion but that’s okay.”

Caitlyn says as far as she knows, the only other family member to have read the book is Kim Kardashian, Kris’ daughter with Robert Kardashian and Caitlyn’s step-daughter. “Kim did read it. I gave it to her after Kris was done with it, but I never really had a chance to really discuss it with her after the fact. I don’t know if she got all the way through it,” Caitlyn said.

In the candid conversation, Caitlyn also shared her guidelines for co-writer Buzz Bissinger (Friday Night Lights): “You have to show my sick sense of humor,” Caitlyn says she told him. “I don’t want it to be this depressing book.” Jenner herself sees the inherent humor in her very public life and transition. “Just the [idea] that Bruce Jenner, for all these years, the male athlete on the Wheaties box had to deal with all these issues — that in itself is funny!” she said with a laugh.
