Noted Holmesian Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is at it again.

The NBA player-turned-author has penned a comic series, Mycroft Holmes and The Apocalypse Handbook, following the adventures of Sherlock Holmes’s older brother Mycroft Holmes as he goes on missions around the world, under the orders of both a secret organization within the British government, as well as Queen Victoria herself. In his latest case, Mycroft, the smartest man in England, attempts to track down a madman in the possession of deadly weapons, each of which is at least two hundred years ahead of its time.

As readers will quickly discover, the graphic novel — which collects the comic’s first five issues — features a version of the character a little different from his previous TV incarnations. This version of the just-as-brilliant-at-sleuthing Holmes brother is a rugged, globetrotting adventurer… as well as a womanizer.

Abdul-Jabbar co-wrote the series with Raymond Obstfeld, while Josh Cassara and Luis Guerrero created the art.

Mycroft Holmes and The Apocalypse Handbook will be available for purchase on Sept. 5. Preorder it here, and get a first look at some exclusive pages below:
